One of my goals this summer is to explore more places in New York. I take the beauty of NY for granted since I’m from here. A place that I’ve been meaning to visit for a while is Kykuit. A home that belonged to John D. Rockefeller. He was considered the wealthiest man in modern history. So of course I was intrigued to see how he and his family lived. Besides art & photography, another passion of mine is real estate and interior decorating. My taste is more modern, but it’s always great to take inspiration and appreciate classic aesthetics. We took the grand tour, which is the longest at 3 hours. We got to see 2 levels of the home, the gardens, art gallery, and also a collection of vintage vehicles. I wish I can show photos of the interior and the insane art collection, but unfortunately they do not allow photos inside the manor.
I chose to wear a kimono wrap dress for this trip. (Unfortunately this exact dress is no longer sold) I love these dresses because to me it’s timeless. I can wear it for decades and it most likely will not go out of style. You can also pair this dress with so many shoe options. I chose to wear my comfy Birkenstocks since I knew we would be doing a lot of walking. This outfit is so simple, but yet classy and practical.
